This week on Entrecard Thoughts Friday, I need your help again!

I’m considering tossing Project Wonderful. It’s been running for weeks now only to see less than a dollar sitting in our account. Instead, EntreBlast is considering selling ads directly! So, actually there is more than one question this week.

Traffic info: EntreBlast became officially open on March 31st, 2008. It’s been almost two months and we have bounced all the way down to an Alexa traffic ranking of 263,320. And, this is all just from dropping and posting occasionally in the forums. With new features and a big contest in the works for June and July, we plan to keep climbing down.

Answer all of the questions truthfully, and you’ll be rewarded 50 ECs! By ads, we are talking about 125×125 ads on the sidebar. You can enter by commenting on this post or contacting me.

1. Would you be interested in advertising on EntreBlast?
2. Would you be willing to pay in cash? How about in Entrecredits? Which one would you prefer?

How many times have you come across a blog that has not updated in a week? How about in over a month? Do you own one of those blogs?

Hopefully, you know what I’m talking about. If you’ve come across a blog that is dead through Entrecard, then the owner of that blog is probably experiencing an Entrecard addiction. In fact, I bet 99.9% of those blog owners are suffering from an extreme Entrecard addiction.

How do I know?

It’s easy to figure out. Mostly because we’ve all been there. The blogger is spending all this time dropping, commenting, and posting in the forums in order to drive traffic to their blog. It is hard to write without an audience, unless of course it’s just a personal diary. But, if you’re with Entrecard, it’s because you want your blog to be seen! So, you stumble across this awesome thing called Entrecard, and immediately you are attached. You want to drop 300 a day and build up a ton of credits so you can use them to get your blog known. Hey, Entrecard can be pretty addicting.

Why are you still dropping?

The more you drop, the more credits you earn, the more your blog gets known! This should be the reason you drop. But, if you are are spending too much time dropping and not enough time maintaining your blog, your drops will go up and you’re blog will go down. Eventually (hopefully), you will realize this when you’re wondering why your traffic isn’t steadily increasing. If you post new content as well as drop regularly, you’ll traffic will rise! This is because you will have people (the Entrecarders you’ve been dropping on) returning to read new content, whether they drop on your card or not. They will remember your blog as opposed to just spending 3 seconds finding your Entrecard and dropping. Isn’t that what you really want?

So here’s a little tip to those who haven’t written a new post in 27 years: Stop focusing on traffic and start worrying about content. This is  more a lesson on blogging than it is on Entrecard(ing). Work on writing new posts regularly and readers will start to come to you. Then go to Entrecard to get a boost.

This week’s Entrecard Thoughts has to do with the new Entrecard updates.

Since EntreBlast started – the only way the word got out about the blog is by dropping and posting the forums. Now, we’re going to to start advertising on other blogs. The comments you submitted for last week’s Entrecard Thoughts Friday contained a lot of helpful information. Oh and, your ECs are being distributed right now! Anyways, expect our Entrecard to be popping up here and there in the next few days as we purchase some ads. We’ve gone from having an Alexa ranking of over 3 million to now sitting at 288,000 in less than a month! I hope to continue this climb down and get under 200,00 and eventually even under the thick skin of 100,000! With more returning readers comes new features! That’s right. I still have a bunch of ideas to bring to EntreBlast and I’m so eager to share them but I want to wait until the time is right. All I can say is, June will be a great month!

Early this morning a huge update has been made to Entrecard with all the details explained on Entrecard’s blog and you should have received an e-mail about it. I’ll re-summarize the information here. Plus, an idea I sent to Phirate earlier this week has been added, and not mentioned in the e-mail.

Entrecard Official E-book

That’s right! Entrecard has released their official Entrecard e-book containing a tips, strategies, FAQs and more! I’ll read through it and give a more in depth review later.

2 Blogs, One Account

Or even 100 blogs, one account. Now you can merge all of your Entrecard accounts and blogs into one account! Go to Dashboard -> Linked Blogs and from there you can add an existing Entrecard account or make a new one. You’ll be able to switch between blogs just like that! This, I know, has been long awaited and will surely please fellow Entrecarders.

Small New Features

A couple of small, new features has been added to the Entrecard site, including one that was not mentioned in the e-mail or the Entrecard blog post.

New Campaign Tabs – Now you can see the most popular, cheapest, newest, and even randomly chosen blogs when finding blogs to advertise on. You can use the old way, by searching, with the ‘Search’ tab.

Top Droppers RSS – Subscribe to those that drop the most on you with the new Top Droppers RSS feed. Located right next to the Top Droppers table under ‘Statistics’.

Drops by Date – The drops inbox is a really useful tool to drop on everyone who’s been dropping on you lately. But don’t you want to see who’s dropped on you today, yesterday, or maybe from last week. Now when you visit your ‘Drops Inbox’ in your Dashboard, you’ll see white boxes in the mix of Entrecards with the recent dates on them. You can see the group that has dropped on you today, yesterday, the day before, etc. It would be more convenient to have a drop down menu next to ‘Show’ because the white boxes can be hard to spot with the white Entrecards around.

Contests

I want to buy some ads. But, here’s the thing- EntreBlast has never bought any ads before! We don’t know the good blogs to buy ads on- which ones receive the most visits per the Entrecredit; which one is worth the cost?
