Solution to Entrecard Inflation
Early this morning Entrecard sent out an e-mail to all users describing a change that will be made to the Entrecard system in order to battle the rising inflation. Entrecard credits are becoming less and less valuable because there are more credits coming into the system than there is going out. While Graham attempted to solve this inflation problem by allowing users to sell credits back into the system, this feature has been removed. So, the new proposed solution is:
Members will only receive credits for dropping their cards, not for cards dropped on them.
So go ahead and continue dropping daily and you’ll receive 1 Entrecard credit for each drop you make, like always. However, you won’t receive any Entrecard credits for those who drop on your blog. The goal is to bring credits to a higher value.

If their goal is to make new, active EC members happier they will succeed wildly. If their goal is to retain old, popular members this is a terrible way to do it.
If they want to eliminate inflation then they need to increase the amount destroyed when someone buys an ad or come up with an attractive sink for credits that people will use. As long as there’s more credits going in than coming out their problem will remain. As a temporary measure, this cuts the problem in half.
I’ve read some complaints about this but I don’t think it will affaect anything. I’ve just joined E-card and I absolutely love it! I think it’s one of the best blog promotion ptograms out there.
I am still dropping so lets see how it goes
It will be interesting to see how the new Entrecard management tries to address this issue.
I actually thought the idea of cashing out and thus destroy credits make sense. In truth, I have spend quite a number of credits advertising on Entrecard, but the reality is that you don’t get that much in return from your advertisement. Just last month I spend 10k advertising on a couple blogs but all I receive was less than a handful of visitors.
I guess this is one of the next worst case scenarios. Now you don’t get anymore credits when the persons who clicked on your ad, drop their card on your blog.
At the moment i get around 850 EC/day when i drop my 300 cards. After the change it will be “only” 550 ECs. That means the amount of buying ads will decrease or i have to look for cheaper ad spots.
And i guess this will happen. More and more members will buy ads from low cost members in the range from 16 to 128 EC which will make them extremely expensive and the return will be from less value!
In September the prices will rise because many members hold back their ECs from the previous CashOut program (some hold more than 100.000 ECs) but as you get less ECs now, they will flow back in the economy and rise the ad prices like you saw already yesterday at the TOP blogs (double or tripled the prices from 2.048 to 16.384 EC).
And it’s bad for the less active members as they can’t advertise anymore with no ECs flowing in their account while someone drops on their Box.
But it might be positive for the upcoming contest which starts on 1st September!
The members can win 1000s of ECs + 5 $ each week!
Will see how it works out.
What good is advertising your blog if no one is actually stopping to read your blog when dropping on it just to get a point? I wonder how many people who “drop” on 300 blogs actually read any of them. I’m advertising because I want people to come to my blog to read it.
I found that I was only visiting blogs to get that “drop”. I’ve changed my dropping habits and started dropping on fewer blogs and now I’m reading more. Besides that, dropping on 300 blogs was taking what limited time I have away from research and developing my blog.
Another thing — think of it this way. If you advertise on “low cost” members, then you will be able to put your 125 button out there to more people and flood the E-card market with your ads.
Hi JT Locke,
I promise you, as soon as of the first week of September, you won’t find anymore good and acceptable adspaces between 16 and 64 EC.
It’s already now like this:
for 2 EC ad – 12 popularity points (means 2,5 EC-visitor/day)
for 4 EC ad – 25 popularity points (5 visitors)
for 8 EC ad – 50 popularity points (10 visitors)
for 16 EC – 80 popularity points (16 visitors)
for 32 EC – 160 popularity points (32 visitors)
for 64 EC – around 300+ pop.points (60 visitors)
for 128 Ec -around 600+ pop.points (120 visitors)
What does this mean? As i started my ad campaign for our contest, the advertisement cost where 50% cheaper. That means you could say popularity points divided by 10 and then you had a good ad price.
The ad price went up since they announced the new policy for 1st of September.
Why does the ad prices go up already now?
People want to “save” up the money for future advertisements. But at the moment they will get only crap for they money. As i spend now over 6.000 EC i got around 180 clicks, from the low cost advertisement 3.072 ECs= 768 EC
Only persons who have their “saved up” ECs from the cashout program can advertise on this high priced ad spot or you have to wait 3 or more days (when your ad price is let’s say 128 EC = 32 ECs in your pocket) when you can drop 300 cards each day.
This means EntreCard should find a way to regulate the Ad price more to the reality after they cut the ECs we can receive for our drops.
Sorry, the website cut out some sentences from one of the last paragraphs

seems like i can’t publish the whole comment… always cuts out some sentences in the middle of my comment
Here some parts of the cut out sentences

Sorry, please delete the last 2 comments… it always deletes the sentences after “from the low cost advertisement…”
Hmm, not sure why it’s doing this, sorry!
